Donald Trump's decision to insert himself into the growing conflict between Israel and Iran has set off alarms with one MSNBC analyst who stated on Saturday morning that the president is ill-informed on the region that could be plunged into a full-scale war.

Appearing on MSNBC's "The Weekend," longtime White House correspondent April Ryan noted that there is an "elephant in the room" that should concern everyone as the president kicks the can down the road for a reported two weeks as mulls the U.S. response..

As she noted, since taking office for a second term after being out of the Oval Office for four years, the president has chosen to skip getting daily intelligence briefings that have left some of his advisors flustered and intelligence analysts in a panic.

Addressing the co-hosts, she explained, "Think about this, though –– and you guys hit on it and it's the elephant in the conversation in the room, forgive the pun –– but he's just now starting to get intelligence."

"He's just now starting since Thursday," she reported. "We're seeing intelligence, consistent briefings. And before that, how often was the president briefing getting briefed, right? He's just once a week. Was it bullet points? Was it a show and tell? What was it? Was it pictorial?"

"I mean, because every day presidents used to get a book, before this president, they used to get a book basically of what's going on around the world," she added. "And now he's playing catch up. He's doing the quick notes. This is not that moment to do quick notes."
