On his way out of the U.S. to visit Scotland, Donald Trump told reporters that he had no relationship with convicted child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein.

As the Epstein files controversy consumes both the White House and the Department of Justice, the president is trying to leave it all behind as he heads to Scotland to with with the British prime minister and tour his own two golf resorts.

On his way to his helicopter on Friday morning, Trump stopped to take questions from reporters and was unsurprisingly asked about Epstein, whom he has been photographed with multiple times, accompanied to events and reportedly also wrote a fawning birthday letter to.

"People should really focus on how well the country is doing," Trump replied to a shouted question. "Or they should focus on the fact that Barack Hussein Obama led a coup, or they should focus on the fact that Larry Summers from Harvard, that Bill Clinton, who you know very well, and lots of other friends, really close friends of Jeffrey."

He went on, "They should speak about them because they don't talk about them, they talk about me. I have nothing to do with the guy."

The president also claimed he had given no thought to a pardon for convicted Epstein partner, Ghislaine Maxwell.
