Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon is drawing a hard line in the sand over President Trump's wild Greenland fantasy, calling the push to seize the Arctic territory "utter buffoonery" and warning it could trigger impeachment proceedings.

Speaking to The World-Herald, the retiring Republican didn't mince words, declaring that a military invasion would be a "disastrous idea" capable of ending Trump's presidency. "If he went through with the threats, I think it would be the end of his presidency," Bacon stated bluntly.

The congressman revealed brewing mutiny among GOP ranks.

"I'll be candid with you: There's so many Republicans mad about this," he claimed.

While he previously twice voted against impeaching Trump, Bacon signaled he'd "lean that way" on a Greenland-related impeachment, describing military action against the NATO ally as "catastrophic."

Bacon's rebellion comes as Trump doubles down on acquisition fever, declaring in a Truth Social post that the U.S. "needs Greenland for the purpose of national security." White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt ramped up the temperature, calling military action "always an option at the Commander-in-Chief's disposal."

Rejecting diplomatic niceties, Bacon fumed: "You don't treat allies that way."

"You do that with Russia or China, Iran, but don't treat your best friends like a piece of s---. That's what he's doing. I think it's totally wrong to treat your best friends like this and bully them," he said.

The standoff intensifies as European leaders unite against the takeover scheme, while Bacon sponsored bipartisan legislation to restrict presidential military power against NATO members.
