Donald Trump’s desire to make more changes to venerable Washington, D.C. buildings ran into some resistance from his own supporters after he posted on Truth Social.
Early Friday morning, as part of an onslaught of new posts in the new year, the president posted a picture of the ornate Eisenhower Executive Office Building, originally built in the 1870s when it was known as the State, War, and Navy Building.
Without identifying it, which only led to confusion among his supporters, he instead wrote: “How beautiful of a building is this?”
The point of the post appears to be Trump unveiling an artist's rendition of what the building would look like if it were painted entirely white, thereby eliminating the existing green highlights.
According to the Wall Street Journal two weeks ago, preservationists pushed back “... when Trump unveiled plans to put a coat of white paint on one of the neighboring buildings — the ornate, 19th-century Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the West Wing.”
The president’s attempt to drum up support for his proposal fell flat on Friday morning when one Trump fan wrote, “Looks gross.”
ICE supporter Tiffany Rogato was baffled by what she was seeing and confessed, “Ummmm. I'm not sure. It is not ugly and it is white, so I like that. Where is it located?”
“I am not a fan of white on white on white on white, but it does stand out from the buildings surrounding it. And for those that do like white on white... buildings, awesome, this post wasn't meant to hate on you,” stated on-the-fence brtorgo.
Self-described “patriotic American” Tyler Plus chipped in with, “It looks like a bomb hit it.”
“Ugly and boring.. lacking interest and beauty!” added MAGA! Kimmy715.
Ivan Raiklin suggested that the president has better things to do and pointed out, “Tina Peters still rotting in prison.”
“Fix the fraud. That’s all the American people care about!” echoed self described “Truth seeking conservative wife” Troopersrhuman.
“This helps Americans HOW?” asked presidential supporter Lilysammy1.
Identifying as a "free man," An average dude 77 complained, “Where are the arrests? If Bondi can't do this job replace her... This should be your only priority and focus You get that right?”
TrumpRulz24 added a dismayed note, writing, “Based solely on YOUR most recent posts here today … We’ve literally gone from Sleepy Joe to #DerangedDonald -WTF???”
