'Laugh at Trump' trends on social media after ex-president admits he hates mockery

Donald Trump is a tragedy for those who feel but a comedy for those who think he's a chicken, a new social media trend shows.

A new Twitter hashtag quickly went viral Friday morning as news spread that Trump, the former president and convicted felon, was trying to dodge a debate against Vice President Kamala Harris, his likely opponent in the upcoming election.

"Trump told the world that he really doesn’t like it when people laugh at him," wrote X user Jo. "But tonight, we’re all laughing at him for running away like a great big baby from the debate. Wouldn’t it be terrible to get #LaughAtTrump trending? He’d HATE that."

Writer Armand Hamouth jumped on the bandwagon.

"Wouldn’t it be terrible to get #LaughAtTrump trending?" Hamouth wrote. "DJT WOULD HATE THAT."

And soon Lincoln Project co-founder George Conway and "Star Wars" star Mark Hamill were spreading the word — or hashtag.

Conway began sharing video of political commentators laughing at Trump, including a CNN commentator calling the former president a "scared little punk."

"He can take a 'bullet' but won't debate a Black woman?" wrote X user @dhoodson. "#LaughAtTrump."

X user @vote_planet shared historic video of then-President Trump leaving a paper trail as he boards Air Force One.

"Trump boards Air Force One with toilet paper on his shoe," they wrote. "#LaughAtTrump."

Other variations on the theme include #SpongeDonScaredyPants.

"#LaughAtTrump you say?" wrote @ArtCandee. "This unearthed footage from Mr. Trump’s buried 2004 SNL sketch titled 'Donald Trump’s House of Wings' is sure to do the trick. It can’t be shared enough. Especially when it’s clear he’s too scared to debate VP Harris! Chicken!"
