An 11-year-old Texas girl died by suicide after being bullied by her middle school classmates who repeatedly threatened to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities to have her family deported from the United States, according to multiple reports.
Jocelynn Rojo Carranza spent five days in a Dallas hospital before succumbing to her injuries on Feb. 8, according to the Independent. Her death came after she was taunted with deportation threats by her sixth-grade classmates at Gainesville Intermediate School, the girl’s grieving parents told the Spanish language station Univision.
“It’s not fair, because it happened because of the negligence of the school,” the girl’s mother, Marbella Carranza, said through tears in the Univision interview, according to a LiveStarLive report.

The 11-year-old, of Gainesville, Texas, about 70 miles north of downtown Dallas, was reportedly seeing a school counselor multiple times per week.
“It seems that the school was aware of this happening, but they never — they never let me know what was going on with my daughter," Carranza told the outlet.
The news comes as President Donald Trump has begun to deliver on his long-promised mass deportations and large-scale immigration raids, a cornerstone of his political agenda. ICE’s daily arrest rate has nearly doubled since Trump’s inauguration as part of the crackdown, the Independent reported.
A GoFundMe page created by the girl’s father, Ernesto Rojo, while she was in the hospital has so far raised close to $30,000.
