'Not anymore!' MSNBC's Rachel Maddow says Trump 'underwater' on even his 'signature' issue

Donald Trump’s overall approval rating is continuing to see a rapid downward decline, according to MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who revealed that even the president’s signature issue is beginning to see cracks of disapproval.

Maddow on Thursday walked viewers through a new CNBC/Hart Research poll, which placed Trump underwater by seven points, with 44% of those surveyed approving of his overall performance as president – versus 51% who disapproved.

But Maddow said Trump’s poll numbers grew “much worse” when respondents were asked their thoughts on the MAGA leader’s handling of specific issues.

While Trump’s approval on issues including tariffs, foreign policy and inflation were all underwater by a majority of those surveyed, Maddow flagged the survey responses on immigration as a crucial sign for the president.

“Throughout Donald Trump's entire life as a political figure, the one issue where he is almost always enjoyed, to my mind inexplicable, but nevertheless, net positive support from the American public is on the issue of immigration, but even on that – not anymore!” she said. “Look at this, a Quinnipiac poll from this month now shows that Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of his signature issue of immigration by a five-point margin.”

The MSNBC host added in her searing takedown on Thursday that immigration issues were “supposed to be his best thing, right?”

“He’s underwater on all of it,” Maddow said. “Trump has been back in office for less than 100 days. The American people are quite disapproving of his agenda. The American people are protesting what he's doing more and more, and he's losing every single day in court on almost everything that gets him into court.”
