President Donald Trump announced a five-day pause to his war against Iran in an early morning, all-caps social media post.

The 79-year-old president declared Monday, in a message containing spelling mistakes, at 7:05 a.m. that unspecified representatives from the U.S. and Iran were having constructive conversations after he threatened to attack power stations if Iran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping traffic, which has strangled the global fuel supply and rattled global markets.

"I am please to report that the United States of America, and the country of Iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East," Trump posted.

"Based on the tenor and tone of these in depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, witch [sic] will continue through the week," he added, "I have instructed the Department of War to postpone and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions."

He later deleted the post, and re-published it without the spelling mistakes.
