'You owe us': Arizona columnist pleads with Trump to take 'delusional' Kari Lake off their hands

In a biting column for AzCentral, longtime Kari Lake critic Laurie Roberts expressed dismay that the failed gubernatorial candidate is losing her luster in the eyes of Donald Trump and thus dashing hopes that she would be his 2024 running mate and, more importantly, get her out of the state.

Reacting to a report that the former president isn't happy about Lake's need to keep herself in the public eye long after she lost her only run for office, Roberts begged Trump to give her another chance and spare Arizonan's a Kari Lake U.S. Senate bid.

As Roberts sees it, Trump owes Arizona a big favor and he needs to repay the state.

"Arizona put you on the political map, drawing thousands of your faithful followers to one of your 2015 early rallies, just a few weeks after you announced you were running for president."

"Now it’s time to return the favor and take Kari Lake," she implored the former president. "The alternative is that Lake stays here and runs for the U.S. Senate, forcing Arizonans to endure another 16 months of perhaps the most determined (read: delusional) candidate this state has ever seen."

"OK, more like 26 months in the event there’s another 'stolen' election (read: she loses)," she pointedly added.
