Sen. Lindsey Graham's congratulations for Donald Trump on his Michigan primary win spurred outrage on social media Tuesday night.
Graham (R-SC) took to X to celebrate Trump's easy win that brings him one step closer to securing the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential race.
"I’m hoping that sooner rather than later the Republican presidential primary will end so we can unite with President Trump as our nominee," Graham wrote. "It is clear to me that the Republican Party faithful are behind President Trump in all corners of the country. It’s time to move on to the general election."
"Those aren’t faithful," X user @HigginsResist snapped back. "They’re scared."
Higgins was hardly alone in his angry take on Graham's congratulations. Dozens upon dozens of responses poured in accusing Graham of sycophancy and hypocrisy.
For example, X user David Hegarty seemed outraged over a comment Graham made against Trump in 2015.
"I remember when you called him a 'race baiting xenophobic bigot' you're a spineless coward," he wrote.
Another self-professed MAGA voter also condemned Graham's stance.
"We will NOT unite behind him/or you," wrote Tiff B. "He has destroyed Conservatism."
X user Charlie Fox focused his frustration at MAGA.
"Maga [sic] knows trump hates democracy," he wrote. "Maga does not support trump in spite of these things; maga supports trump because of these things."
