The co-hosts of MSNBC's "The Weekend," burst into laughter on Saturday morning after watching Donald Trump play defense for billionaire Elon Musk and his visit to the Pentagon to reportedly be briefed on military planning for a China conflict despite White House disavowals.

With Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY) as a guest, the trio of Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele and Alicia Menendez watched the clip from the Oval Office on Friday where Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth tried to downplay the Musk visit, with the president getting in the last word.

According to Trump, the billionaire, who does a substantial amount of business in China, has no interest in Pentagon planning for a possible conflict even if it was offered.

In the nationally-televised Oval Office press availability, the president asserted, "I might add that I think, Elon, if they ever wanted to do that, I think Elon wouldn't do it. I think he wouldn't do it. He wouldn't want to put himself in that position. "

That elicited laughter from all three co-hosts with Steele jumping in to say, "Okay. So that that last part, that, okay, I was buying your BS up until that last part because you know damn well that if Elon Musk has access to sensitive Chinese information, given what the congressman just said about all his business interests in China –– yeah, he's sitting for that meeting."
