Russian state media openly mocked President Donald Trump after he warned Vladimir Putin that Russia is “playing with fire” and would have already faced “really bad things” if not for him, according to a report from Rolling Stone.

In a biting response to Trump’s newest remarks directed at Putin, Kremlin-controlled outlet RT highlighted Trump’s post with a screenshot.

“President Trump warns Moscow, claiming Russia avoided ‘REALLY BAD’ consequences only thanks to him,” RT posted Tuesday on X. “‘Putin doesn’t realize… he’s playing with fire!’ — Trump’s message leaves little room for misinterpretation Until he posts the opposite tomorrow morning.”

The jab comes just days after the MAGA leader praised Putin following what he described as an “excellent” two-hour phone conversation. Trump said in a Truth Social post last week that Russia and Ukraine would “immediately” begin ceasefire talks.

But the latest back-and-forth marks a significant shift in tone as Trump has publicly aired his frustrations with the Russian president’s failure to stop his barrage of attacks on Ukraine.

During his presidential campaign, Trump claimed Russia never would have invaded Ukraine if he had been president. He also bragged that he would end the war within 24 hours of taking office.
