President Donald Trump proclaimed himself "Mr. Tariff" as he took credit for a bullish stock market Tuesday.
Stocks rose Monday following the U.S. attack on Venezuela over the weekend, with energy leading the way on expectations that oil companies could benefit from rebuilding the South American country's infrastructure. Trump fired off a 99-word Truth Social post boasting about the gains.
"The USA markets just hit another ALL TIME HIGH - ALL OF THEM!!!" Trump posted Tuesday morning. "THANK YOU YOU MISTER TARIFF!!!"
The president then urged his followers to pray that the U.S. Supreme Court rules in his favor in a legal challenge to his tariff regime, which he claims has raised anywhere from $195 billion to $600 billion in customs duties.
"PRAY THAT THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT ALLOWS OUR COUNTRY TO CONTINUE ITS UNPRECEDENTED MARCH TOWARD UNPARALLELED GREATNESS!" the president posted. "BOTH OUR NATIONAL AND FINANCIAL SECURITY HAVE NEVER BEEN STRONGER!"
