A surprise decision by Donald Trump to pause tariffs on Mexico was not universally applauded by his more hardcore MAGA followers who took to Truth Social to accuse him of being, among other things, "weak."
Thursday afternoon the tariff-loving president backed down on a trade war with one of America's largest trading partners by reversing himself on his plans to put the Mexico under his thumb, ostensibly over concerns about border drug trade.
On Truth Social he wrote: "After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement. This Agreement is until April 2nd. I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum. Our relationship has been a very good one, and we are working hard, together, on the Border, both in terms of stopping Illegal Aliens from entering the United States and, likewise, stopping Fentanyl. Thank you to President Sheinbaum for your hard work and cooperation!"

While many Trump supporters applauded the move, others felt America's southern neighbor still needs to be punished, with commenter Steve who has applauded Trump's "He who saves his Country does not violate any Law" claim, writing, "Melt the cartels already, starting to think you’re in on the cartel deal. MELT THEM LIKE YOU PROMISED," before adding, "Are you working with her and knowing she’s a part of the cartels are you giving her a Jew card?"
Scott S, a supporter of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), also contributed, "Make them pay a Penalty for allowing the last four years of invasion."
"Weak because Mexico is the main source of fentanyl and has done way more damage than Canada has ever dreamed of! you are wrong this time," wrote Trump fan VoiceOfTheUnitedStates.
Chukscar suggested, "That’s not a negotiation that’s surrender we were behind you Mr President we are not behind surrender."
Handsome Truth, a self-admitted racist, suggested a Jewish conspiracy by writing, "Trump realized that she's Jewish and probably had to tongue-kiss her feet in some depraved satanic blood ritual before dropping the tariffs."
"I would keep the tariffs in place, after those 12 college students were found dismembered!" suggested ex-President Joe Biden critic David C, who implored Rep Taylor Greene to "... tell Trump to keep the tariffs in place with Mexico, after they found 12 college students dismembered the other day! These cartels are terrorist and the President of Mexico is helping them!"
Justthabomb15, who professes to be "just a huge fan of Trump" seems to have lost faith and wrote an error-filled complaint, stating, "Big fan but your a f------ idiot trum for this stopping their tarries but not Canada's that for 4 years he dumped illegal invaders to your country and way more drugs and crime and you punish canada. What a s----- move. What the f--- is up with that. I think canada should shut off your power and stop selling you oil. Ungrateful neighbor. Starting to loose hope in ypur your loosing alot of canada Maga fans prettt quick."
