Police allege that an unidentified man driving a U-Haul truck allegedly crashed into a security barrier near White House in Lafayette Square on Monday and then threatened to kill White House officials including President Joe Biden.
CNN reports that the driver crashed into the barrier at around 10 p.m. on Monday and he was subsequently detained by U.S. Park Police.
While law enforcement officials haven't provided details about the driver's behavior, they did tell CNN that the driver is facing charges of threatening to kill, kidnap or inflict harm on a President, vice president or family member; assault with a dangerous weapon; reckless operation of a motor vehicle; destruction of federal property; and trespassing.
Additionally, CNN reports that video taken in the aftermath of the crash shows police removing several pieces of evidence from the vehicle, including what appears to be "a swastika, a black backpack and a roll of duct tape."
