Florida man steals car laden with $10,000 in COVID vaccine -- keys were left in the ignition: report

On Thursday, The Daily Beast reported that a man in Plant City, Florida stole a car containing a cooler laden with $10,000 worth of COVID-19 vaccine doses.

"The keys were still in the ignition of the 2018 gray Hyundai Accent when the unidentified man, who was described as a light-skinned man in his 20s wearing a hoodie and who has not been apprehended, drove away from the Strawberry Festival grounds with the 30 vials still in their cooler," reported Blake Montgomery. "Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward."

This comes after a Wisconsin pharmacist with a penchant for conspiracy theories was arrested for deliberately destroying 500 vials of COVID-19 vaccine, under the baseless belief the shots could alter people's DNA.

There is currently a nationwide scramble to vaccinate as many people as possible to prevent another deadly surge of coronavirus, but the effort has faced a number of logistical challenges and has been behind schedule for weeks.
