Sarah Sanders: 'I will do what I tell my kids to do to -- treat everybody with respect'
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders on Tuesday suggested that it would be hypocritical for her not to "treat everybody with respect" because she has instructed her children to respect the dignity of others.
During an interview on Fox & Friends, host Ainsley Earhardt asked Sanders to respond to "this lack of civility" after some critics argued that White House officials should be confronted and be made to feel uncomfortable in their personal lives.
"I'm going to continue to do exactly what I tell my kids to do," Sanders insisted. "And that's to treat everybody with respect, whether I disagree with them or not."
"I think it's sad, this situation where politics have gotten," she continued. "Look, we live in an amazing country and certainly people should be free to disagree but I think that we can do that in a way that is much nicer, that doesn't call for people to never be able to step foot in public. I'm going to continue to do my job to the very best of my ability. I'm going to continue to always treat people with respect."
Earhardt wondered if Sanders had visited another restaurant since the owner of the Red Hen asked her to leave over the administration's policy of separating immigrant children from their parents.
"I have been to one," she replied. "I'm not going to name any locations to keep from creating problems. It went fine."
CNN's Jim Acosta may disagree with Sanders claim that she treats "everybody with respect" after she accused him of not being able to understand short sentences.
