After viewing a somewhat bumbling interview that President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, gave on ABC on Sunday morning, a panel on MSNBC's AM Joy lit up the former New York City mayor for his gaffe-filled responses including his admission about knowing about a meeting with Russians at Trump Tower.
Addressing Giuliani's comments about special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation closing in, host Joy Reid was incredulous at the lawyer's responses.
"I don't think I've ever heard a president's lawyer go on TV and say 'oh, he's going to charge him.' but he seems to think his client will be charged with obstruction of justice," Reid marveled, before turning to Esquire journalist Charlie Pierce.
"I think I have to change Joe Biden's evaluation of Rudy Giuliani to 'a noun, a verb and no collusion,' because that's where we are right now," Pierce joked. "It's been a long time since Rudy was in a courtroom -- he's a TV lawyer, he's [Law & Order's] Jack McCoy except he doesn't act as well as Sam Waterston"
"He's out there to change public opinion, not make legal points so it doesn't matter how many times he backs the train up over his own feet," he added.
Sharing a clip of Giuliani admitting he may have been at the notorious Trump Tower meeting -- or knew about it -- with the lawyer stating, "I was probably there that day -- I don't remember it. Did somebody say something to me? I don't know. You know what a campaign is like? It's helter-skelter," the entire AM Joy panel started laughing.
"This is so incredibly ridiculous. Somebody ought to be at the New York State Bar Association filing a grievance against Rudy Giuliani, " commentator Tiffany Cross offered as the panel once again burst into laughter.
"The fact that Donald Trump has chosen this cousin-dater to lead his defense team shows how ill equipped he is to be at the helm of the United States," she added. "But if Donald Trump refuses a [Mueller] subpoena, this is an example of something that likely could end up before the Supreme Court and what do you know? He has a Supreme Court pick coming up Monday."
