WATCH: Trump laughs about locking up George Soros moments after calling for national unity

Published

on

President Donald Trump on Friday briefly tried to strike a conciliatory tone when it came to condemning political violence — but he quickly reverted back to attacking his political foes, including musing about having billionaire Democratic donor George Soros arrested.

While addressing the Young Black Leadership Summit at the White House on Friday, Trump went on the attack against “globalists” whom he accused of undermining American sovereignty.

“I like the globe too, but we have to take care of our people,” the president said.

While Trump talked about “globalists,” many audience members started yelling, “Soros!” while another member yelled, “Lock him up!”

The president smiled and pointed to the audience member and laughingly repeated, “Ha, lock him up!”

Trump’s laughter about the prospect of locking up Soros comes after Trump supporter Cesar Sayoc was arrested on Friday on suspicion of sending explosive devices to Soros and several top Democrats. Sayoc’s Facebook and Twitter feed are loaded with attacks on Soros and other liberals.

Journalist explains the horrifying ‘scale of the disaster Trump has wrought’ in the Middle East — and worldwide

On Monday, British journalist Edward Luce laid out the chilling likely consequences of President Donald Trump's abandonment of Kurdish allies in Syria — and how the decision threatens to destroy America's ability to steer world diplomacy:

Worth emphasising the scale of the disaster Trump has wrought in the week since his call with Erdogan. 1. Revived Isis. 2. Cemented Assad’s grip on Syria. 3. Handed Russia yet another geopolitical windfall. 4. Betrayed the Kurds. 5. Immeasurably harmed US power. Thread 1.

A Pennsylvania middle school teacher has been put on administrative leave without pay after she was caught on video calling a black man the N-word after a fender-bender in a school parking lot, WNEP reports.

The teacher, whose name has not been released, has reportedly been a teacher at Drexel Hill Middle School since 2008. She can also be heard making homophobic remarks in the video as well.

The video apparently begins just after the accident, and the teacher can be heard saying the man is “probably on welfare,” to which the man replies, “Not even a little bit. Six figures a year, ma’am.”

A historian explains why Trump’s anti-Semitism is uniquely bad

Published

on

In August, Donald Trump tweeted that Jewish Americans who vote for a Democrat are guilty of ignorance or “great disloyalty: “I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.” Many commentators wrote that this assertion echoed the anti-Semitic trope that Jewish Americans have “dual loyalty” to Israel.

Donald Trump is certainly not the first president tainted by anti-Semitic feelings, but as is often the case with Trump, he goes further in a manner and direction distinctively different from his predecessors.
