On CNN Monday, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), a Trump-skeptic conservative who has founded a PAC to try to nullify the influence of the former president, suggested Republicans should put loyalty to the country first and help President Joe Biden tackle the pandemic.
"Do you think there's bipartisanship for passing this emergency COVID legislation?" asked anchor Wolf Blitzer.
"Yes, I do think there's room," said Kinzinger. "I don't know if either side will get exactly what they want. I think obviously the chips are in the Democrats' hands. If they want to bring Republicans on board I think it would send a good message, but ultimately we have to do something. We have to move forward and get this pandemic as much under control as we can, agree to basic things. So I think we need to understand that if we don't come to a bipartisan solution, it doesn't mean it's the end of our ability to work together."
"I think one of the problems is that we've said that if you're in the opposition party, you have to fight at all costs, and I think there's value to being a loyal opposition, putting loyalty to the country first," continued Kinzinger.
Kinzinger added that he hopes the House strips committee assignments from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a far-right, pro-QAnon lawmaker who has called for prominent Democrats to be executed, denied school shootings, and suggested global warming is caused by a Jewish space laser.
