Former New Jersey Democratic Rep. Tom Malinowski on Friday took a shot at his one-time Republican colleagues for turning a blind eye to a threatening tweet from Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA).
Higgins on Friday put out a cryptic tweet that at least one expert in militia codewords says references military-grade maps and makes allusions to taking over bridges in Miami where Trump will be arraigned next week.
The expert, Jeff Sharlett, said of the message: "This isn’t slow civil war. This is a congressman calling for the real thing."
Reacting to this, Malinowski said that it was time for other Republicans in Congress to speak out against Higgins' veiled threats, especially since many of them know the kind of person he really is.
"Most of this guy's House GOP colleagues know he's dangerous and unhinged," Malinowski wrote. "But they tolerate him. That is all."

Higgins came to national prominence in 2019 when he delivered a Bible-thumping rant against former President Donald Trump's first impeachment on the floor of the House of Representatives.
"I have descended into the belly of the beast," Higgins said at the time. "I have witnessed the terror within and I raise committed to oppose the insidious forces, but this unjust and weaponized impeachment brought upon us by the same socialist who threatened unborn life in the womb, who threatened Second Amendment protections of every American patriot and who have long ago determined that they would organize and conspire to overthrow President Trump."
