A federal appeals court denied Donald Trump's request to overturn a limited gag order in his election subversion trial.

On Tuesday, a panel of three judges on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals said that Trump's appeal of U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan's gag order would not be heard.

The gag order was imposed last year after a request from special counsel Jack Smith. The order noted that Trump has a history of attacking witnesses and court staff.

Trump's "repeated appeals to broad First Amendment values therefore ignores that the court — pursuant to its obligation to protect the integrity of the proceedings — recognized those values, but in balancing them against the potential prejudice resulting from certain kinds of statements, found them outweighed," Chutkan said while reinstating the gag order previously.
