Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), in an apparent attempt to curry favor with former President Donald Trump, has filed a formal complaint against U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell.

In her complaint, Stefanik describes Howell as a "D.C. Obama judge" and accuses her of saying that electing Trump as president could lead to fascism, despite the fact that Trump has openly mused in public appearances about being a "dictator" for at least a day.

Stefanik also complained that Howell signed off on a search warrant to retrieve top-secret government documents that Trump had stashed at his Mar-a-Lago resort, which she complained led to his "unprecedented and highly controversial indictment."

In fact, Trump was indicted because he was keeping top-secret documents, including intelligence related to nuclear weapons programs, at his resort and because he allegedly refused to comply with a lawful subpoena for their return.

Stefanik also attacked Howell for receiving praise from former Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

"It’s particularly shocking to hear the former Attorney General of the United States praise a sitting federal judge for her handling of the grand-jury proceedings on pending federal criminal charges against a defendant (President Trump), the pending criminal cases against his January 6 supporters, and even make the legal conclusion that an 'insurrection' occurred on January 6 -- despite the fact even the over-the-top Biden Special Counsel Jack Smith never brought such charges against any January 6 defendant," she argued.
