The world's richest man is forking over millions to President Donald Trump to settle a lawsuit filed against his social media platform, X.
Elon Musk’s company agreed to pay about $10 million in the deal with Trump, who sued the company and its former CEO, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday evening.
Trump sued Twitter in July 2021 accusing the site of censorship and violating his First Amendment rights. Twitter permanently banned Trump's account in January of that year stemming from concerns he could further incite violence following the Capitol insurrection.

At the time, Trump said Twitter censored conservative voices and demanded it cease shadow-banning, silencing, and blacklisting of users.
A federal judge dismissed Trump's case the following year, ruling that Twitter is a private company and not bound by the First Amendment.
Even so, Trump's legal team continued pursuing the case, culminating in the settlement. The details of the deal weren't immediately known.
X's settlement came days after Mark Zuckerberg's Meta, the parent company of Facebook, settled with the president for $25 million.
Following that settlement, critics warned that Trump and the billionaire class are engaging in "open-air corruption" and "bribery."
"They’re just flaunting it," wrote journalist Radley Balko after the Meta settlement.
