A new filing from a co-defendant in former President Donald Trump’s election racketeering case has one expert concerned the trial will devolve into a wine-throwing, table-flipping, manicured finger-pointing free-for-all.
Alarm bells rang for Georgia law professor Anthony Michael Kreis Friday when Mike Roman filed his response to Fulton Country District Fani Willis’ denial of professional wrongdoing in a personal relationship with her special prosecutor and referenced an alleged conference tryst, a king size bed and a “safe house” AirBNB.
“This hearing is going to get very dramatic very quickly,” Kreis wrote. “Judge McAfee is going to have to keep folks on a tight leash to avoid things devolving into a spinoff of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

In Willis’ request to cancel an upcoming hearing on her relationship with Nathan Wade, she accuses Roman of levying accusations against her that are “meritless” and “salacious.”
In his response, Roman doubles down on the salacious as he responded to the affidavit from Wade submitted by Willis.
The former White House staffer — accused of conspiring to impersonate a public officer, commit forgery, and file false documents — contended he had witnesses to will refute at least one of Wade’s claims.
“Witnesses will testify that you cohabitated with Ms. Willis at an AirBNB in Hapeville that was paid for by tax payer money to serve as a ‘safe house’ for you and Ms. Willis,” his filing states.
“You swore that you have never cohabitated with Ms. Willis but the attached documents show you shared a king size bed with her in Aruba.”
For Kreis, this second accusation doesn't pass the smell test.
“By the way,” he wrote, “I don’t think the term 'cohabitate’ really encompasses vacation rentals. That’s a stretch.”
And Mueller, She Wrote podcaster Allison Gill raised an eyebrow at Roman’s hinting at witnesses.
“Why didn’t Roman include sworn affidavits of these witnesses in his filing?” she asked. “This feels a lot like kraken election witnesses without them.”
One social media user professed herself not shocked.
“Gee, a Trump hearing being turned into a soap opera doubling as a rally and fundraiser,” replied @SueSandersHere. “Who could have predicted?”
