Talk show host, actress, author and producer Oprah Winfrey gave a fiery speech at Sunday's Golden Globes Awards after she was presented with a lifetime achievement award by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
"What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have," Winfrey told the audience.
She paid respect to the women of the #MeToo movement and said she hopes a day will come when no one ever has to say, "Me, too" ever again.

MSNBC political analyst Sam Stein said on Sunday that the White House's attempts to defend President Donald Trump against charges of unfitness for office are having the opposite of their intended effect.
Stein said that White House adviser Stephen Miller's appearance on CNN was "performance art."
"It was so obvious what was transpiring in the moment," Stein said, that Miller had gone on Trump's least favorite TV network to function as an attack dog and please his master.
"If the White House's objective this week has been to prove that Trump is a sane, rational human being, they've done things I just don't understand," he continued.
Sending out Miller to attack a respected journalist? "This is not a sane thing," said Stein.
The bizarre two-screen video message in the White House briefing room when the president is less than 200 feet away "is not a sane thing to do," he continued.
"So they are taking steps that only reinforce this notion that the president has something going on and is a little bit obsessed with cable news and vindictiveness toward former aides," concluded Stein.

Actor Sterling K. Brown, who won a Golden Globe for the show "This is Us" Sunday, thanked producer Dan Fogelman.
According to Brown, throughout his career he's benefited from what he called "color-blind casting."
However, "for the first time in history, I am being seen for who I am, and I am being appreciated for who I am." Brown explained "it makes it that much harder to dismiss me. And dismiss others like me."

Winning best actress for a television series, Elisabeth Moss was rewarded with the top prize for her role in the apocalyptic "Handmaid's Tale."
In her speech, Moss quoted author Margaret Atwood's line from the book that inspired the Hulu series.
"We were the people who were not in the papers. We lived in the blank white spaces at the edge of print. It gave us more freedom. We lived in the gaps between the story."
She dedicated her award to Atwood and other women who came before her and will come after her.
"This is for you and the women who came before you and after you who were brave enough to speak out against intolerance and injustice and to fight for equality and freedom in this world," she said. "We no longer live in the blank white spaces at the edge of print. We no longer live in the gaps between the stories. We are the story in print. We are writing the story ourselves. Thank you."

Late night host Seth Myers didn't hold back during his opening monologue for the 2018 Golden Globes ceremony.
On the subject of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Myers said, "The only name that would make him angrier would be the Hillary Mexico Salad Association."
On the topic of "Call Me By Your Name," a gay coming-of-age movie, Myers said that we lost Kevin Spacey at "of age."

Former U.S. Attorney for the middle district of Georgia Michael Moore said on CNN that President Donald Trump's defense that he "didn't know Steve Bannon that well" makes things look even worse for the Trump administration.
"The thing is, with Steve Bannon, we keep forgetting he was on the national security council," said Moore. "And then to come out and say, 'I don't really know him, he's Sloppy Steve' or whatever, he was their pick to be on the national security council. He helped run the campaign."
Moore continued, "And as far as Wolff goes, I listened to the president's comments that you just played there, it's concerning to me that you let a man inside the White House with that kind of access to the Oval Office and the people in the staff that you now say, 'I really didn't know who he was?'"
"That in and of itself to me calls into play some judgment questions," he concluded.

CNN "Reliable Sources" host and media watcher Brian Stelter said on Sunday that if another country's leader acted like President Donald Trump, we'd "conclude that he is not well.”
According to Mediaite.com, Stelter was referring to the president's tweet at North Korean leader Kim Jong Un earlier this week in which he boasted that his "nuclear button" is bigger than Kim's.
That behavior on top of the revelations from Michael Wolff's Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, said Stelter, mean that it's no longer out of bounds to question the president's fitness for office.
“When a President of the United States threatens North Korea by invoking the size of his nuclear button, it is fair to ask about his fitness,” said Stelter. “If a leader of another country were to do the same thing, I think many commentators, many reporters will conclude that he is not well.”

Former U.S. Rep. David Jolley (R-FL) slammed President Donald Trump's adviser Stephen Miller on Sunday after Miller's toadyish tantrum on CNN forced anchor Jake Tapper to " rel="noopener" target="_blank">cut him off and end the segment early -- a move that earned plaudits for Tapper.
Jolley said that the current rift between Trump and former adviser Steve Bannon will heal and the two will head into the 2018 midterms as a team, especially now that Bannon has rolled over and offered a groveling apology to Trump for the things he said in Michael Wolff's book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.
Anchor David Gura played video from Miller's CNN segment, to which Jolley said, "Stephen Miller is the one person in this White House, through loyalty and sycophancy who can fill Steve Bannon's shoes and he knows that."
"The Stephen Miller interview was for an audience of one, Donald Trump," said Jolley.

On Fox News, White House aide Stephen Miller did not get good reviews for his manic performance with CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday morning that forced the State of the Union host to shut down the interview and go to commercial.
During a panel discussion on Fox media analyst Howie Kurtz's Spin Cycle, the host broke off from a discussion about author Michael Wolff's blockbuster book about President Donald Trump's White House to address Miller's outburst.
"On the subject of the president watching television," Kurtz began. "Earlier today a White House official, Stephen Miller, was on CNN talking to anchor Jake Tapper. He turned on his former colleague Steve Bannon and called his remarks in the book 'grotesque and vindictive.' And also said that CNN is 24 hours of anti-Trump hysteria."
"It was a very testy interview," Kurtz admitted before reading President's Trump's tweeted response to Tapper, and adding that Trump was obviously watching.
"Yeah, he just guaranteed the rebroadcast of that show, those rating are going to go through the roof," campaign strategist Mo Elleithee agreed.
"I didn't see anything unfair in Tapper's questions although it was a testy interview" the Fox host offered.
"That's right, and I haven't seen the whole interview yet," Elleithee stated. "But there was a clip at the end where Tapper was trying to ask Miller several questions and Miller, all he would do was just lavish the president with effusive personal praise to the point where Tapper said you're only speaking to an audience of one right now."
"Moments later, the president verified that with his tweet," Elleithee added with a smirk.
"I guess he doesn't just watch Fox News," conservative commentator Gayle Trotter added as the panel began to laugh.

Matt Schlapp, an ardent supporter of President Donald Trump, lashed out at right-leaning ABC contributor Matthew Dowd on Sunday and demanded that he quit calling him a "liar."
During a panel discussion about President Trump's desire for Democrats to agree to a border wall, Schlapp argued that the Democrats might be "dumb enough to say 'hashtag resistance' all year."
"If they decide to never work with Donald Trump on any issue, that is a political risk that is not wise to take," he insisted.
Dowd, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, expressed a different point of view: "I know Matt likes to create a world that is sort of fictional."
"Are you saying I'm a liar, Matt?" Schlapp interrupted, appearing to raise out of his seat. "That's way beyond. I don't need truth serum. I don't need to be lectured by you about being a liar."
"I never called you a liar," Dowd insisted.
"You did! You did in the first segment!" Schlapp exclaimed.
"No, I did not," Dowd replied. "I said if you drank truth serum, you would actually admit [the truth]."
"Clever way of calling me a liar," Schlapp complained, pointing his finger at Dowd.
"The Republicans have passed nothing that is popular with America in 2017," Dowd said, concluding his point. "And I expect them to pass nothing that is popular in 2018. The president is inherently the most unpopular president at this point of any president that we've had."
"The Democrats have a generic ballot lead that is larger than anytime in the last 20 years," he added. "So we're seeing a situation that this huge wave is coming and I don't see a president who's only governed to a base to change that in the course of the next few months."

Jack Kingston, a CNN contributor and former Trump campaign staffer, argued recently that the Trump campaign could not have colluded with Russia because no one in the organization "would be stupid enough" to do it.
During a CNN panel discussion on Friday, Republican strategist Tara Setmayer said that she was baffled by President Donald Trump because he seemed to be trying to obstruct the Russia investigation while claiming that there had been no collusion with Russians.
"When you're completely innocent, this is not how you behave," she noted. "So, why was Trump so incensed about [Attorney General] Jeff Sessions recusing himself -- rightfully -- from the situation? If there was nothing going on, why did he need [Sessions] to protect him? To protect him from what?"
"It strains credulity to think that everyone is making everything up and Donald Trump is just paranoid?" Setmayer remarked. "I don't think so."
Kingston disagreed.
"I do know the president," he pointed out. "I talked to him particularly about this. And he outraged because he does believe he's innocent."
"I was involved in the campaign," Kingston said. "I don't believe people like Kellyanne Conway would be stupid enough. I've known her for many, many years. These are ethical people."
In fact, Trump's son, Don Jr., and other members of the campaign did meet with Russians in an attempt to get dirt on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

CIA Director Mike Pompeo on Sunday told Fox News that he would not "dignify" any question about President Donald Trump's mental health.
In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Wallace noted that Michael Wolff's new book, Fire and Fury: Inside Trump's White House, had raised questions about the president's fitness for office.
Pointing to a tweet in which Trump called himself a "stable genius," Wallace wondered how the CIA would assess other world leaders who did the same thing.
"The CIA does psychological profiles of world leaders," Wallace observed. "What would you say about a world leader who refers to himself as a 'very stable genius'?"
Pompeo, however, refused to answer the question.
"I'm not going to dignify that question with a response," the CIA director insisted. "This is a man who is leading the United States of America and who engages with the intelligence community in ways that are sophisticated. He deals with the most complex issues and has handled them in a way that I great admiration and respect for. We're keeping America safe."
"You say you're keeping America safe," Wallace pressed. "By raising questions about the president fitness, in a sense -- and the president became a part of it, making this the big topic this week -- has this book weakened our country, weakened our standing around the world?"
"No," Pompeo replied without offering an explanation.
