Speaking to "The View" on Monday, a former QAnon believer explained that she didn't go from a regular Republican voter to believing Tom Hanks was drinking the blood of children overnight.

Ashley Vanderbilt told the hosts that it began just as a series of Trump videos and then grew to stories about child sex trafficking. As a mother, that was something that scared her. From there it was a slow walk into the conspiracies about the government killing children. Then, she said, social media algorithms started showing her more and more, recommending groups she join, which helped her meet others who could send her more conspiracies.

It wasn't shocking that former President Donald Trump was given a pass by the Senate for his involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, "Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver explained on his first 2021 show.

Oliver began the HBO episode by saying that Trump's lawyers mounted a defense that could be "charitably described as incoherent."

In an interview with Axios on HBO, Vice President Kamala Harris claimed 'there was no national strategy or plan for vaccinations' in the Trump administration's COVID-19 plan. Harris claims what many in the Biden administration have surmised after taking over governing.

'We were leaving it to the states and local leaders to try and figure it out," Harris told reporter Mike Allen.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Saturday slammed "lying scum bags" after Twitter users circulated a misleading video that appeared to show him refusing to clap for Capitol Officer Eugene Goodman during a standing ovation.

Paul said that he supported the Capitol Police and "cheered" Goodman when the hero was honored at the Capitol for his bravery during January 6 insurrection.

"The View" co-host Meghan McCain thinks Nikki Haley made a politically fatal gamble on former president Donald Trump.

The former South Carolina governor and Trump's ambassador to the United Nations said the former president deserved a "break" shortly after inciting the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection, but she told Politico that Republicans "shouldn't have followed him" -- and McCain said Haley had cost herself a shot at becoming the GOP nominee for president.

MSNBC's Kasie Hunt revealed that Republicans would very much like to rid themselves of former president Donald Trump, but they're afraid of his supporters.

The Capitol Hill reporter told "Morning Joe" that House impeachment managers were trying to appeal to GOP senators by arguing that if they vote to convict Trump, which requires 17 Republicans, they won't have to vote to bar the former president from elected office because that requires only a majority, which Democrats hold in the Senate.

Comparing it to 9/11, she said that watching the attacks and feeling the sense of panic and fear again was hard. It's a sentiment shared by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's staff, who were photographed watching the impeachment as footage of them trying to escape was shown during the trial.

Speaking to MSNBC after the first opener to the impeachment trial, former Republican Congressman Denver Riggleman (VA) was asked if the Democrats were able to change any minds.

Reading some of the reactions from Republican senators denouncing the trial, host Chuck Todd asked if any of it made a difference.

MSNBC's Michael Steele called out Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) for melodramatically ignoring evidence from the U.S. Capitol insurrection he helped incite.

The former chairman of the Republican National Committee harshly criticized the Missouri Republican and other GOP senators who helped inflame Donald Trump's supporters ahead of the Jan. 6 riot and then flagrantly ignored or disputed video and other evidence that showed the mob intended to kill members of Congress to stop the certification of the presidential election.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough compared the U.S. Capitol insurrection to Adolf Hitler's orders to destroy German infrastructure out of spite at the end of World War II.

The "Morning Joe" host has drawn comparisons to Donald Trump and the Nazi autocrat, but those usually center on Hitler's rise to power, but he said Thursday the former president's actions after losing the Nov. 3 election reminded him of the end stages of other mad rulers.

"Late Show" host Stephen Colbert, read some of the tweets from Wednesday's impeachment proceedings that detailed specifics about Republicans goofing off or ignoring the proceedings, reading novels or painting their toenails.

"Senators seemed to be barely paying attention," said Colbert. "Instead, they were seen explicitly not listening: feet up on their desks, reading books, and reading briefing papers on other topics. Yes, other, more interesting topics like 'How does history tend to remember cowardly, fascist-enabling, worthless pieces of garbage?' Speaking of which-- Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley, seen here sitting with all his friends." Colbert showed Hawley sitting with no one around him.

Seth Meyers couldn't help but notice that President Donald Trump's lawyers have no idea what they're doing.

After their messy opening, Trump's lawyers looked like he found them on a billboard ad or an asbestos commercial, said the "Late Night" host.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), a former prosecutor, brought up a previously undiscussed issue around the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and former President Donald Trump's role in phone calls to delay the vote.

While the insurrectionists were making their way into the building, Trump was on the phone to Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) looking for Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL). Rudy Giuliani had previously left a message on the wrong phone also looking for Tuberville. The goal was to get him to object to more states than what Republicans had intended while the electoral votes were being counted.
