"The View" host Whoopi Goldberg spent the past four years steadfastly refusing to say Donald Trump's name, and now that he's not president she doesn't even want to talk about

The former president jabbed Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell as a "dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack," which served as Wednesday's first "hot topic," but Goldberg said the story obscured more important issues in the day's news.

Renowned actor and civil rights activist George Takei offered his analysis of the wave of racist attacks on Asians in America.

"A report from the Asian-American Bar Association of New York details the rise of violence against Asian-Americans in New York during the COVID-19 pandemic," MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell reported on Tuesday. "Across the country, there were more than 2,500 reports of anti-Asian hate incidents related to COVID-19 between March and September 2020."

Republican Brendan Buck is "excited" about the feud between Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and former President Donald Trump, but another GOP analyst doesn't understand why there's even a feud when they agree on everything.

During Don Lemon's show Tuesday, the host noted that he agreed with President Joe Biden's assessment that he's tired of talking about Donald Trump. "He's just such a negative force," the host said.

Sen. Lindsey Graham questioned GOP Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's political acumen while continuing to publicly show fealty to Donald Trump during a Tuesday night interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News.

Graham said, "what I would say to Sen. McConnell, 'I know Trump can be a handful, but he is the most dominant figure in the Republican Party. We don't have a snowball's chance in hell of taking back the majority without Donald Trump.'"

Texas Republicans have received stinging criticism for their policies after power outages killed Texans during this week's brutal snowstorms.

Even though coal and natural gas -- plus the unusual situation of The Lone Star State having its own power grid -- are largely responsible for the fatal power outages, Republicans have sought to blame wind and solar power.

On Tuesday's edition of MSNBC's "All In," anchor Chris Hayes demolished the false claim from Republican officials that the catastrophic blackouts in Texas are caused by overreliance on wind power.

"This is an awful situation. It's driven by a complex confluence of factors, from extreme weather to an electric infrastructure that's been woefully underdeveloped to the idiosyncrasies of Texas' aggressively deregulated and independent energy market," said Hayes. "But of course, Fox News and other Republicans saw some kind of suffering, some kind of problem somewhere and immediately, without missing a beat, right away tried to turn it into a culture war, in this case against those damn hippy liberals and their clean energy."

A whopping 4.3 million in Texas are without power, as of this morning, with no real information about when power will be restored. The problem, Americans have come to understand, is due to Texas being part of its own power system and not the national power grid. While other states are only facing "rolling blackouts," where power is restored after an hour, Texas is being left in the cold.

Speaking to MSNBC on Tuesday, Judge Clay Jenkins, the chief executive of Dallas County, explained that the problems in Texas could have been avoided. Extreme weather isn't unheard of in Texas and Judge Jenkins explained that ten years of GOP governors have turned the state into one that can't even count on their power grid.

CNN legal analyst Anne Milgram predicted that former president Donald Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani would be tied up for years in court over their roles in inciting the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection.

The NAACP and Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) sued the former president, his personal attorney and allied groups such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers under the Reconstruction-era Ku Klux Klan Act alleging they conspired to violently interfere with the electoral certification.
