On Wednesday evening, Fox News host Tucker Carlson treated his viewers to a bizarre rant tying together former President Donald Trump's impeachment trial with denial that George Floyd was killed by the Minneapolis Police.

"So what does all of this mean, exactly?" said Carlson. "We're not sure what it means, and we're not going to speculate. What we do know for certain is that the known facts of what happened on January 6th deviate in very important ways from the story they are now telling us, including the story they told us today in the impeachment hearing. And in many places, the known facts bear no resemblance to the story they're telling — they're just flat-out lying. There's no question about that. The question is, why would they lie about this?"'

On Wednesday, during the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, House impeachment manager Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) laid out a timeline of facts that demonstrated the former president's complicity in the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol, and his indifference to lawmakers' safety.

Castro played footage of rioters screaming for the blood of then-Vice President Mike Pence, immediately after Trump tweeted an attack on him and suggested he was abdicating his duties. He noted that it was after this tweet that they began chanting "Hang Mike Pence" and constructed a gallows in front of the Capitol.

On CNN Wednesday, correspondent Jeff Zeleny weighed in on the reactions of senators to the harrowing footage of the violence at the Capitol insurrection in January during the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump.

"We saw Senator Schumer there. That was very dramatic video we had not seen before. He was walking up the Capitol visitor center with his detail and then abruptly was walking back the other way into the underground tunnels from the Capitol building over to the Senate office building," said Zeleny. "I am told that Speaker Pelosi is here in Washington, she's watching this trial unfold as she's tending to other matters as well. But seeing the speaker's hallway there and those staffers hiding inside that conference room, seeing people try and open the door, ramming the door, and hearing that audio, we have not seen this from this perspective."

On CNN Wednesday, following damning video testimony in the Senate impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, anchor Jake Tapper took a swipe at the GOP for their apparent likelihood to still move to acquit the president, in spite of everything.

"This will be what he is remembered for. Hundreds of years from now," said Tapper. "Some presidents aren't even remembered for things. This is what will be Donald Trump is remembered for. And the fact that there are going to be dozens of Republican senators who, in all likelihood, vote to not hold Trump accountable for this, is just stunning to me. And that will be their legacies."

For the public, it was the first time that closed circuit television footage was shown of the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Along with the footage showing the police officers who put their bodies between attackers and members, there was body camera footage.

The final video was of the officer who was being crushed in between the video, screaming in agony. Another officer, who had a heart attack as a result of being shocked with his own taser, described the fear that he experienced. While one officer was killed, two killed themselves after the attack and many, many others dealt with serious injuries and PTSD.

Amid the closed-circuit television (CCTV) video being shown during the impeachment trial Wednesday was a video of two officers holding an attacker at gunpoint while members slowly made their way out of the chamber and to safety.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) showed another video of members making their way from another part of the chamber. He explained that he paced it out and the members were 58 steps from being taken hostage or killed by attackers.

Security footage taken on Jan. 6 as a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol building shows a Capitol police officer escort Sen. Mitt Romney to safety, redirecting a path he was on that would have led him directly to the rioters, according to HuffPost's Philip Lewis.

"Eugene Goodman ran into Mitt Romney in the hallway and told him to turn around and get to safety, as the mob entered the building, in new footage," Lewis wrote in a tweet that shared the footage. "Romney was going to run DIRECTLY into the rioters."

Former Republican Party chairman Michael Steele attacked GOP members who were ignoring the impeachment trial after swearing an oath to "do impartial justice."

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) was called out by several people for putting his feet up on the desk and ignoring the trial. During the first day of the trial, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) ignored the violent 13-minute video, reading the newspaper during the proceeding.

"The View" co-host Meghan McCain warned conspiracy-mongering Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) would get elected president if Democrats didn't stop making fun of Republicans.

McCain has made similar threats in the past about former president Donald Trump, who she now thinks should be impeached for inciting the Capitol insurrection, but now she's got a new cudgel.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough blamed the U.S. Capitol insurrection on white grievance, and said that fear of changing racial dynamics has remained largely unchanged since the 1950s.

The "Morning Joe" host said former president Donald Trump's supporters tried to overturn his election loss because they're not willing to share democratic power with the Black voters who backed President Joe Biden.

MSNBC's John Heilemann blasted the "moral bankruptcy" of a Republican Party that would acquit former president Donald Trump of inciting a U.S. Capitol insurrection that nearly got them killed.

The president's supporters burst into the Capitol on Jan. 6 in an attempt to overturn Trump's election loss, and House impeachment showed video evidence of the violence that left five dead that day -- but Republican senators largely refused to look.

Fox News host Sean Hannity, an informal adviser to former President Donald Trump, fumbled when speaking with impeachment lawyer David Schoen as he assessed the trial opener.

"I love your arguments, I loved your passion," Hannity said to Schoen. "I thought it started a little meandering. It — it was sort of like — a lot of free-associating in the beginning."

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow revealed at the top of her show Tuesday that in the middle of the second impeachment trial, that former President Donald Trump was still adding lawyers to his legal team. One of those attorneys, however, has some controversial things to say about his new client.

"Even as the trial is now underway. Yesterday, we learned that he had made a last-minute addition of a new lawyer named van der Veen, Michael van der Veen. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported today that Mr. van der Veen recently sued President Trump, really recently, in the lead-up to the 2020 election, he sued Trump, arguing Trump and his campaign were trying to suppress the vote in Democratic-leaning areas of Pennsylvania," said Maddow. "He also defended a college student who was prosecuted for trying to hack into an IRS database to obtain Trump's tax records. That student saying Mr. van der Veen described Trump to him as a quote, 'f---ing crook,' but he didn't just say 'F', apparently, he said it for real. And now, that man represents Donald Trump in his impeachment trial."
