A top elections official in Polk County, Georgia, was arrested on drunk driving and drug possession charges, reported WRGA News on Tuesday.

"According to a report by the Polk County Standard Journal, 24-year-old Polk County Elections Director Noah Beck was arrested in Rome over the weekend for charges related to DUI," reported Jeremy Stewart. "Rome Police reported that Beck was pulled over on East Second Avenue just after midnight Friday night after a Rome Police officer observed his vehicle weaving and crossing over into the other southbound lane."

Per the report, a responding officer could smell alcohol on Beck, who refused to perform a field sobriety test.

"A search of Beck’s vehicle led to the discovery of Adderall in a resealable plastic bag in his vehicle," said the report. "Beck is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, a felony, along with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, drugs not in original container, and failure to maintain lane." Beck has not verified to reporters whether he had a prescription for the pills.

According to the Polk County Standard Journal, Beck was hired last year and oversaw both the primary and November midterm elections in Polk County. He is now on a 10-day paid administrative leave pending further investigation by the county Board of Elections.

This comes after Logan Luse, a Republican state House candidate in Florida, was arrested on DUI charges earlier this month after what police simply described as a "mishap" while speeding in a Jeep.
