Pro-Trump attorney Jenna Ellis' apology letter she was ordered to write as part of the conditions of her plea deal in the Georgia election racketeering case has been released — and it is incredibly short, with a single line apologizing for her actions.
"To the people of Georgia: I apologize for my actions that gave rise to this indictment. Sincerely, Jenna Ellis," read the letter in its entirety, according to Tamar Hallerman of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
This stands in stark contrast to her spoken allocution, which went into considerably more detail about her regret for the role she played in former President Donald Trump's plot to overturn the 2020 election, in which she tearfully professed "deep remorse" and implicated Trump and his associate and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani in the plot.
However, it is similar to the letters written by Trump-aligned attorneys Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro, both of whom also wrote extremely short and terse apology letters as part of their plea agreements in the same case.
Trump himself is also charged in the case, alongside a number of other attorneys and Republican strategists.
By contrast, the former president is, for the time being, the sole person under indictment in special counsel Jack Smith's federal election conspiracy case, which is currently on hold pending review of Trump's claim that he is immune from prosecution for actions taken while in the office of president.
