Trump declares that 'we’re going to all become' the 47th president

Former president Donald Trump declared during a speech on Friday that, "We’re going to become the 47th President of the United States" and that "the path to victory is clear."

Trump, who was recently indicted on charges that he made improper hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels and at least one other woman in the run-up to the 2020 election, shared on his Truth Social an article from RSBN, which quoted him as adding that, "We’re going to all become" president because he is running for office “for you.” The speech was for the Lee County GOP Lincoln/Reagan dinner, and he teased the appearance on his account for the social media company he owns.

Smartmatic attorney expects 'full retraction' from Fox News along with a sizable payout

The trial for Dominion Voting Systems' $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News was avoided on Tuesday, April 18 when plaintiff Dominion and defendant Fox reached a settlement. Fox News agreed to pay Dominion $787.5 million, and the right-wing cable news channel has been spared the embarrassing testimony that Dominion's attorneys were getting ready to present during the trial.

But Fox News is still facing a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit from Dominion competitor Smartmatic, whose lawyer, Erik Connolly, discussed that case with CNN's Jake Tapper on Thursday, April 20.

Senate Judiciary Democrats unable to subpoena John Roberts because of Dianne Feinstein’s absence

Democrats have been debating how to handle Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-California) absence from the Senate Judiciary Committee due to health problems. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-California) has called for Feinstein to resign, noting that President Joe Biden's federal judicial nominations are being held up. But other Democrats want to give Feinstein more time. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) believes that sexism is at work, arguing that older male senators aren't asked to resign when they suffer health problems.

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee have been probing allegations of corruption against U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas following ProPublica's bombshell reporting on his relationship with billionaire GOP donor Harlan Crow. ProPublica reported that for over 20 years, Crow has been treating Thomas to luxury vacations — and that Thomas sold property in Georgia to Crow but failed to report it.

Migrant crisis has ‘destroyed’ NYC, Mayor Adams claims ahead of meeting with top Biden aides

NEW YORK — Mayor Eric Adams charged Friday that New York City is getting “destroyed” by the federal government’s failure to contain the nation’s migrant crisis — a thinly-veiled broadside against President Joe Biden delivered just hours before Adams was set to meet with White House officials about the matter. Adams, who claimed earlier this week that Biden has “failed” the city by not providing more migrant-related financial assistance, leveled the latest jab against the president in remarks at the African American Mayors Association’s annual conference in Washington, D.C. Appearing on a panel...

This prominent conservative just offered some surprising remarks about the Fox News settlement

Many far-right MAGA Republicans have been furious over the outcome of Dominion Voting Systems' $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, which found the plaintiff and the defendant reaching a settlement on Tuesday, April 18 and Fox News agreeing to pay Dominion $787.5 million. As they see it, Fox News was unfairly taken to the cleaners and shouldn't have to pay such a huge amount.

But Never Trump conservative George Will has a very different viewpoint. In his April 20 column for the Washington Post, the veteran columnist, now 81, argues that the settlement was "good for both parties and for the law."

Former President Donald Trump released a new video on Thursday in which he attempted to downplay an exclusive Daily Beast report that a massive tax deduction that he received on one of his vacant properties may have been obtained fraudulently.

Trump is currently facing a $250 million civil fraud lawsuit in New York, which is just one of the many legal predicaments that are shadowing his run for the presidency in 2024. But what The Daily Beast uncovered about his Seven Springs estate could further deepen his woes.
