CNN's John Berman flagged an "interesting tidbit" as news broke about the FBI raid on former national security adviser John Bolton's home.
Federal agents executed a search warrant at the home of the prominent critic of President Donald Trump, and the "CNN News Central" anchor highlighted a social media post by FBI Director Kash Patel that was then amplified by Vice President JD Vance.
"One interesting tidbit, which is that tweet she just mentioned from FBI Director Kash Patel, saying, 'no one is above the law, FBI agents on mission,'" Berman said. "The vice president of the United States, JD Vance just retweeted it. So again, this is social media sort of play-by-play here."
Patel's tweet, while somewhat "cryptic," came as agents were searching Bolton's home in Bethesda, Maryland, while he was away.
"But you now have the vice president retweeting this, you know, this statement," Berman said. "Again, it's not specific, but it was put out during the time of this FBI search with now the vice president leaning in, which I imagine will only lead to more questions about the timing of this."
Co-anchor Kate Bolduan pointed to another social media post from a high-ranking member of the Trump administration that underlined the apparent political overtones of the search.
"The attorney general also retweeted [Patel's post] with comment this morning, as well," Bolduan said.
Attorney General Pam Bondi retweeted Patel's post, adding her own comment to it, saying, "America’s safety isn’t negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always."
