Colorado Republican Lauren Boebert's decision to leapfrog from her district into a neighboring one that is a more conservative-friendly is not going very well, reports Colorado Politics.

On Thursday, the controversial Republican congresswoman made an appearance at the first public debate held for District Four Republican contenders held in Lupton, Colo., and a straw poll after the debate demonstrated she has some work to do.

Following the debate, which was described as a "clown car crash" after six of the potential nominees — including Boebert — admitted they had been arrested, debate attendees were allowed to cast a vote for their top choice.

As Ernest Luning is reporting, Boebert finished in the "middle of the pack" and the results announcement "drew gasps from the crowd that had just witnessed the Colorado lawmaker face off against eight other Republicans.'

According to the report, "... in the decidedly non-scientific survey — Boebert landed in fifth place with just over 10% of the vote, behind three veteran state lawmakers and a former talk radio host who ran last cycle for the U.S. Senate — surprised some in the room but drew shrugs from others, who pointed out that the hall was filled with local Republicans loyal to other candidates who shared the debate stage."

As for the numbers, 117 votes were cast with Logan County Commissioner Jerry Sonnenberg leading the way with 22 votes, House Minority Leader Mike Lynch receiving 20 votes and Boebert trailing two others with only 12 votes.

Debate organizer Tammy Klein expressed dismay at the voting totals considering the event was sold out.

"It’s very concerning that even when you place a ballot in their hand, they still walk away and leave it on the table," she remarked. "That relates to why voter turnout is so low in Colorado — so many leave their ballots on their counter."
