MAGA candidate defends Nazis showing up to support her: 'Everybody has their own thing'
City of Franklin.

Trump-supporting Franklin, Tennessee mayoral candidate Gabrielle Hanson plunged headfirst into controversy yet again this week when she appeared to defend the fact that neo-Nazis came out to support her candidacy — and that she was the only member of the entire city council not to vote for a resolution condemning it.

The interaction came from a video, posted by NC5's Phil Williams, in which Hanson spoke to a young Democratic activist, complimenting him for being involved in the political process. “But my side doesn’t have Nazis come to City Hall,” the activist protested.

“Everybody has their own thing,” Hanson replied.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

Hanson's candidacy has been plagued by a nonstop string of scandals as the mayoral election has drawn closer.

She has come under scrutiny for lifting social media posts from various women to falsely imply endorsements from them; for misrepresenting her guilty plea to promoting prostitution as a college student in Dallas; and for ejecting a reporter from her event who had covered an embarrassing Speedo incident with her husband.

She has sought publicly to distance herself from the neo-Nazis who have been supporting her campaign — even as she quotes them. Raw Story was instrumental in breaking several of the would-be mayor's scandals.

Her antics have attracted the attention of late-night comedian and "Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver, who devoted a mini-segment to her last week.
