Trump complains about Biden tapping oil reserves for the same reason he did in 2019

Donald Trump groused about President Joe Biden tapping the strategic oil reserves, but he once did the same thing for the same reason.

The current president ordered the release of 30 million barrels of oil from the government's reserves to help blunt rising gas prices, which have shot even higher after Russia's attack on Ukraine raised energy costs worldwide, and the twice-impeached former president criticized Biden's reasoning.

Putin-linked billionaire is frantically selling off his assets — including major UK soccer club

On Wednesday, The Daily Beast reported that a British billionaire accused of ties to Vladimir Putin is quickly trying to sell off major assets as the United Kingdom levies aggressive sanctions on Russia for the invasion of Ukraine.

"One of Britain’s richest men, Russian-born Roman Abramovich, widely believed to be a member of Vladimir Putin’s inner circle, is said to be conducting a fire sale of his British assets, including a $260 million London property empire and his multibillion-dollar stake in the Chelsea football club, fearing his assets will be frozen by British lawmakers," reported Tom Sykes. "Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss said Wednesday that he was offered the iconic London football club, telling Swiss newspaper Blick: 'Abramovich is trying to sell all his villas in England, he also wants to get rid of Chelsea quickly. I and three other people received an offer on Tuesday to buy Chelsea from Abramovich. I have to wait four to five days now. Abramovich is currently asking far too much.'"

'Unhealthy and unhinged': Marjorie Taylor Greene blasted for 'reprehensible' response to Biden's State of the Union

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) wasn't part of the Republican response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union Address, but she tried to be. In her own SOTU response video, she ranted against everything President Joe Biden stands for, Newsweek reported.

Republicans have been criticized as the "party of no," for the past two Democratic presidents, columnist Nicholas Goldberg noted in the Los Angeles Times. Greene brought that to a whole new level Tuesday night after the big speech. While many Republicans gave Biden standing ovations over bipartisan initiatives and cheers for America, Greene struggled to find anything she liked. Instead, she sought to rant against Democrats in a 30-minute, conspiracy-laden, word-salad for the Right Side Broadcasting Network.

"Jen, one of the headlines that emerged from the speech last night was a pair of Republican House members who chose to heckle President Biden as he was speaking about his late son Beau," said Lemire. "Do you have any response to what they said?"

Marjorie Taylor Greene asked journalists to judge her by her own words — and this one accepted the challenge

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia is being slammed by her critics for speaking at the America First Political Action Conference — an event organized by White nationalist and anti-Semite Nick Fuentes — on Friday, February 25. Greene, in response to the criticism, has challenged journalists to judge her by her own words. And Washington Post opinion writer Catherine Rampell, in her February 28 column, accepts the challenge and describes some of the many appalling things that Greene has said since being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

“Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) doesn’t want to be held accountable for the White supremacists she pals around with,” Rampell explains. “Judge her instead by her own words, she pleads. Sure thing, Congresswoman. Challenge accepted.”

Right-wing militias are evading Facebook bans by posting on trucker convoy pages

Some of the violent militia groups banned from Facebook have been sneaking around that barrier to take over discussions of a right-wing "convoy" headed toward Washington, D.C.

'Narcissism' and 'flagrant lies': DC insider warns about the dangers of 'Putinism' infiltrating the GOP

Robert Reich, former U.S. Secretary of Labor, is warning about the spread of "Putinism" throughout the Republican Party and how it could erode what's left of the political party.

In an op-ed published by The Guardian, Reich highlighted Republicans' assault on democracy how some of their actions are similar to Putin's authoritarian leadership style amid his invasion of Ukraine. "The Trump-led Republican party does not openly support Putin, but the Republican party’s animus toward democracy is expressed in ways familiar to Putin and other autocrats," Reich wrote.
