House Republicans are "embroiled in messy internal spats" and suffering from "self-inflicted wounds" that could hurt their chances of regaining the majority in 2022, Politico reported Wednesday night.

The latest example came earlier Wednesday, when far-right Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) was censured for posting a cartoon video of him murdering Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

On Wednesday, Newsweek reported that Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) retweeted an account promoting his own anime video depicting himself murdering Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) — just minutes after the House voted to censure him and strip him of committee assignments for the original tweet.

"Gosar had previously deleted the controversial video, which shows him slaughtering Ocasio-Cortez before turning the blade towards President Joe Biden, refusing to apologize but explaining that he had 'self-censored' due to a sense of 'compassion for those who generally felt offense.' However, Gosar's position appeared to have changed quickly after the House voted largely along party lines to censure him on Wednesday," reported Aila Slisco. "Gosar retweeted conservative podcaster Elijah Schaffer's tweet of the video within an hour of the House vote. The new tweet was captioned by Schaffer, 'Really well done. We love @DrPaulGosar, don't we folks?'"

Former Republican Congressman Charlie Dent on Wednesday slammed many members of his longtime party for defending Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) while threatening to oust Rep. John Katko (R-NY) over his decision to vote for the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

While appearing on CNN, Dent said that it was absurd to defend Gosar for posting an anime video depicting the murder of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) while at the same time pushing to oust Republicans who back the infrastructure deal.

According to CNN's Melanie Zanona, Greene on Tuesday attacked GOP leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for not punishing the 13 Republicans who voted in favor of the infrastructure deal.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday will vote on a resolution to censure Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) after he posted an anime video that depicted him murdering Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

According to Politico's Heather Caygle, the resolution would not only censure Gosar but also remove him from the House Oversight Committee, where he currently serves alongside Ocasio-Cortez.

On Tuesday, CNN's Melanie Zanona reported that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) privately told his caucus not to retaliate against the 13 House Republicans who voted for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, better known as the bipartisan infrastructure deal.

According to Zanona, McCarthy also addressed his own inaction on the anime kill fantasy tweet against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) posted by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), saying that he had asked Gosar to take down the video.
