After taking the fall for the hush money payments Donald Trump purportedly paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels, former lawyer Michael Cohen has spent over a year fighting his old boss in the court of public opinion.
When he heard the news on Thursday that his former employer had been indicted on federal charges, Cohen was celebrating with family, but not for the indictment, for his wife's pre-birthday.
Speaking to Raw Story, he said that he "remains impressed at the expeditiousness of [special counsel] Jack Smith."
He went on to say that Smith "will undoubtedly ensure that Donald Trump is held accountable for his actions. Once again, Donald has created a first as he is now not only the first former president indicted on state charges, but he additionally holds the title of former president indicted on federal charges. Mazel!"
In fact, Trump has now been indicted on over 30 charges in New York state, seven federal charges, he's been impeached twice, he was held liable and concluded he "sexually abused" E. Jean Carroll, and he has been accused of sexual assault or sexual harassment by two dozen other women.
It's unclear what it will look like when Trump is booked on Tuesday, whether there will be bail or an ankle monitor if the court considers Trump a flight risk.
"He should be treated no different than any other individual indicted, identically to any other individual under indictment by the federal government. No exceptions," Cohen also said.
