An anonymous diplomatic insider cracking wise about President Donald Trump on Friday shared his top tip for getting the commander in chief to stop obsessing about Canada.

The diplomatic source quipped about Trump's attention span while speaking to The i Paper about Melania Trump's surprising influence when it comes to Israeli settlements.

"Trump does not like Israeli settlements," one diplomatic source told the paper. "He has been successfully briefed by Melania and [U.S. Special Envoy for Peace] Jared Kushner about settlements; when it comes to suffering kids, she gets involved."

Trump's apparent indifference spurred The i Paper's source to posit that when it comes to international affairs, nothing could compete for his attention with Canada.

"Trump is obsessed with the Canada trade deal," the source said. "And that is taking up all his attention."

The source then argued only one other subject could Trump Trump's focus on the trade war he's mounted — a longtime foe, one of his oldest and most reliable pressure points, and a long-standing grievance.

"Sanctions against settlements is not like saying 'windmills' to him," the source said. "[Tthat] triggers a violent reaction."
