Appearing on CNN to explain why she bucked her own party and voted for President Joe Biden's historic infrastructure bill, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) was asked why Biden got his bill and Donald Trump's "infrastructure week" never materialized and about attacks on her from some of her GOP colleagues.
After listing off an extensive number of projects in her district that will benefit greatly from the influx of infrastructure money, the GOP lawmaker -- who was one of 13 in her party who broke ranks to join with the Democrats -- was asked by host John Berman about threats from Reps. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to see that she is driven from office.
The New York Republican said she doesn't work for her two GOP critics while dismissing their threats.
"Madison Cawthorn said vote for this and 'I will primary the hell out of you.' Marjorie Taylor Greene said you and others will 'feel the anger of the GOP voter.' How scared are you of Madison Cawthorn and Marjorie Taylor Greene?"
"Look, I don't work for anybody except for my constituents, the people of Staten Island and Brooklyn," she shot back. "I will do what is in their best interest. Some wanted to deny the president for being able to take any credit -- that's the way they legislate, that's their business. I will do what's in the best interest of my country and my community, and that's that."
