Nikki Haley’s refusal to drop out of the race for the 2024 presidential Republican nomination is infuriating Donald Trump, according to a new report.
The Guardian reported Thursday that the former South Carolina governor’s campaign is pushing Trump down a path he doesn’t want to walk, and he’s not happy about it.
“Trump’s personal frustration has turned darker with the reality that Haley’s persistence means he will have to campaign more aggressively for the South Carolina primary,” sources told the Guardian, “diverting resources away from preparing for a general election against Joe Biden.”
Reporter Hugo Lowell predicts an “uglier fight” in the upcoming weeks as Trump puts pressure on Haley to step aside.
Trump’s outrage was only fueled by Haley’s determination to paint her New Hampshire primary loss as an unexpected success.
“The frustration has grown more acute as the Trump campaign gears up for the next several contests before Super Tuesday,” writes Lowell, “when 15 states are scheduled to hold Republican primaries or caucuses.”

Haley’s determination also means Trump will have to campaign in person in South Carolina despite his opponent's chances being slim, according to the report.
“The more time and resources Trump has to spend fighting Haley, his team has suggested, the more they cannot focus on pivoting to the general election to target Biden and respond to his political attacks.”
