Sidney Powell's guilty plea in the Georgia election racketeering case is a major breakthrough for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who now has a member of former President Donald Trump's "inner circle" during the 2020 election plot in her camp.

That's the view of former House January 6 Committee counsel Temidayo Aganga-Williams, who broke it down for MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes on Thursday's edition of "All In."

"I saw this, Temidayo, and I was like, this is a sweet deal," said Hayes. "I don't care if Powell goes to prison. I think we put too many people behind bars in this country. It doesn't really matter. But cooperation matters. And what has just been put out as an incentive, this is plead guilty to six misdemeanor counts of election interference, a $2,700 fine and restitution. An apology letter to the citizens of Georgia. Testify in all proceedings, no communication with co-defendants. The choice between what you see on your screen and a seven-figure defense bill, maybe, somewhere in the neighborhood, and maybe prevent time. That seems a no-brainer."

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

"It definitely is a no-brainer," agreed Aganga-Williams. "But I think what's interesting about Sidney Powell is that she's really not a low-level person in the grand scheme of the January 6 story. I think that's what's making her plead guilty and so early. If you recall, she sought a speedy trial. It was her decision to be facing counterattack next week."

"I think what's going to be really critical here is that so early in the case, Fani Willis has now cracked the Trump inner circle," Aganga-Williams continued. "She now has someone who spoke with the former president directly. She has someone who can get on the stand and testify as to what the former president said. What's going to be really critical, I think, about this Powell story, is that as you noted, December 18th, Sidney Powell was at the White House with the president. And that next morning, after this meeting that burst out into arguments because a White House lawyer wanted the so-called 'crazies' out, the former president tweets out his 'be there, will be wild' tweet. After this meeting with Sidney Powell, what does he do? He gets on Twitter and he calls millions of people, his followers, to come to D.C. because he wants to be 'wild.'"

"She's going to offer insight into what was he thinking, what did he say in that meeting, what rumors the state of mind as to how to overturn the election and how they played in with the rally on the 6th," added Aganga-Williams.
