
Republican senators expressed frustration with their House counterparts as Rep. Jim Jordan's bid for speaker appears to be on the rocks.
The Ohio Republican failed to attract 217 votes Tuesday, nearly a week after Rep. Steve Scalise's own effort fell short and two weeks after eight GOP lawmakers joined with the Democratic minority to oust former House speaker Kevin McCarthy – and Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) called them out on CNN.
A second vote was being held Wednesday morning.
"It’s hard to function when you’re dysfunctional," Cramer said. "What’s alarming to me is that it’s such a small group that ...wags the dog. When the tail is wagging the dog, I think you look a little rudderless."

Republican moderates have revolted against the party's right-wing faction to oppose Jordan, a founding member of the hardline conservative House Freedom Caucus and a polarizing figure.
