Rudy Giuliani was interviewed by investigators in connection with the special counsel’s 2020 election interference probe, CNN reports.

The meeting between Donald Trump’s former lawyer and federal investigators occurred in recent weeks but sources who confirmed the meeting to the cable news channel declined to share what was discussed at the meeting, the report said.

Giuliani’s attorney, Robert Costello, was present at the meeting.

Special counsel Jack Smith, who earlier this month charged Trump in a 37-count indictment in connection with the handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, is conducting a separate investigation over allegations the former president tried to interfere with the transfer of power after the 2020 presidential elections.

Paula Reid and Sara Murray write for CNN that Giuliani is among several members of Trump’s legal team the special counsel’s office has taken an interest into in connection with the 2020 election interference case. Sidney Powell, John Eastman, and former Justice Department appointee Jeffrey Clark, are among the others.

Reid and Murray write that, “The interview with Giuliani comes amid a flurry of activity in the probe, which is examining a plan from Trump and his allies to put forth fake electors as well as potential financial crimes related to post-election fundraising. Investigators have called a steady stream of witnesses before a federal grand jury in recent weeks and have pressed attorneys to quickly bring in other witnesses for interviews, sources told CNN.”
