The Supreme Court signaled Friday that a decision regarding a President Donald Trump case could be coming next Wednesday, experts say — but it's not yet clear which one.

CNN analyst Steve Vladeck took to X to share an update to the Supreme Court website marking Wednesday, Feb. 21, as a possible opinion day.

“That almost certainly means a decision in an argued case is coming next Wednesday,” Vladeck wrote. “Whether it’s the Colorado disqualification ruling is something we won’t know until we have it.”

The Supreme Court is also considering Trump’s request to keep the Jan. 6 prosecution on hold while he appeals a lower court's ruling that he does not have immunity, Vladeck notes. That decision could come “literally at any time.”

Opinions are posted to the Supreme Court homepage following an announcement from the Bench, according to the official website.

Both cases tie into Trump's role in elections, albeit different ones.

In the first, Trump has challenged the Colorado Supreme Court ruling last year that he cannot appear on the state’s 2024 presidential ballot having violated the 14th Amendment ban on insurrectionists.

In the second, special prosecutor Jack Smith accused Trump of attempting to criminally interfere with the 2020 presidential election. Trump pleaded not guilty and is pursuing a presidential immunity defense.

In that case, Trump's trial was put on hold while the immunity claim was considered. The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled earlier this month that he was not immune — giving Judge Tanya Chutkan the go-ahead to resume preparations for the trial.

But Trump urged the Supreme Court Monday to put the hold back in place while he appeals the circuit court's decision. That ruling is awaited.
