The View’s Meghan McCain slams conservative rabbi for defending Roseanne: ‘She is every gross stereotype’ of Trump fans
The hosts of "The View" were very skeptical on Friday of Rabbi Shmuley Boteach's pleas to forgive disgraced former sitcom star Roseanne Barr.
Co-host Sunny Hostin began by noting that Barr has been wildly inconsistent in showing how remorseful she is for comparing former Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett to an ape.
"Last week, she released a video where she's screaming... that she didn't know Valerie was black," Hostin said. "And, in fact, she said, 'I thought the b*tch was white!'"
Hostin went on to note that Barr also falsely claimed that Jarrett is Iranian as a way to defend herself against charges of racism.
"All valid points," Boteach conceded, before arguing that Barr nonetheless deserved forgiveness. "Martin Luther King said two things about forgiveness: He said... forgiveness is not an occasional act, it's a constant attitude, and... when we've lost the capacity to forgive, we've lost the capacity to love."
Co-host Meghan McCain similarly expressed skepticism of embracing Roseanne, and she said the former sitcom star made it harder for her to convince people that Republicans aren't all crazed bigots.
"Roseanne is every gross stereotype I'm trying to get people to get away from," she said.
