After sending a flurry of Truth Social postings reacting to seven indictments from the Department of Justice including conspiracy and Espionage Act violations, Donald Trump returned to a dinner party at his Bedminster resort and acted as a DJ playing the hits.

According to a report from the New York Times, the former president was surrounded by close advisers instead of his legal team when the announcement was made and they quickly went into action, posting a video of him defending himself to social media before sending out an email begging for cash.

The Times reported that the former president's team had been anticipating the prospect of indictments and had made plans to reach out to allies of Trump to push back. Additionally, an ad aimed at special counsel Jack Smith -- which will reportedly hit the airwaves on Friday -- was already prepared.

According to the report, "Not even an hour had passed since Mr. Trump learned of his indictment before his campaign had sent its first mass email to monetize the sense of shared persecution and victimhood that the former president has fostered among his supporters. The Trump fund-raising appeal around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday began, 'We are watching our Republic DIE before our very eyes.'"

The report goes on to note that, as the republic began its death throes, the former president headed back to an outdoor party at Bedminster.

"Roughly 90 minutes after he found out about his latest travails, Mr. Trump — who was playing disc jockey on his club patio at Mar-a-Lago after his April arraignment — went to the main building at Bedminster for dinner outdoors," the Times is reporting. "Wearing a red Make America Great Again cap, he again acted as a D.J., according to a person there, using an iPad to play some of his favorites: Elvis, the opera singer Pavarotti and his idol in showmanship, James Brown"
