Donald Trump's scattershot and rambling response to the Supreme Court ruling that he can't be booted from the ballot by states over his part in the Jan. 6 insurrection got the hook from MSNBC's Katy Tur on Monday.
Speaking from his Mar-a-Lago resort, the former president first applauded the 9-0 ruling before complaining about all of his other legal problems, lashing out at Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis — while mocking her name — and then turning his ire on the judges and prosecutors who are holding him to account.
After Trump started lobbing unfounded accusations, personal attacks and conspiracy theories, the MSNBC host had enough and cut off the feed mid-sentence, informing viewers that the former president was playing fast and loose with the truth.
Trump had started by reacting to SCOTUS' ruling involving the Constitution's 14th Amendment, which states anybody who has engaged in insurrection against the U.S. cannot hold public office. The court said that the decision on whether a president can be removed from the ballot has to be made by Congress, not by individual states.
But he quickly got off-track.
Trump had moved onto the Supreme Court's expected ruling on his claims that he's immune from criminal prosecution, saying, "I'm talking about in the future. A president has to be free, a president has to be if the president does a good job. I did, some people would say, a great job ..."
But Tur pulled the plug. The network had aired his ramble uninterrupted for more than seven minutes.

Addressing some of the former president's allegations, Tur told viewers, "The [Biden] White House has not had coordination with the DOJ on prosecutions regarding Donald Trump. This is separate. It's special counsel. The special counsel decided to bring charges. In terms of the Fani Willis stuff, I believe [fellow prosecutor] Nathan Wade testified he was making more money before he started to work for Willis down there."
"Why didn't he come out with a prepared statement?" she asked her MSNBC colleagues and guests. "Why this? Why going back to the battle days of Trump where he just comes out with a word-salad and whatever comes to mind and whatever allegation he can toss out?"
"That's a great question," MSNBC's Garrett Haake replied. "And one that I'll be trying to answer today. Donald Trump has displayed more discipline over the course of this campaign than some of his previous ones in these moments. Not really what you saw here today."
