Donald Trump's Thursday appearance at The Economic Club of New York left co-hosts of "The View" shocked at his incoherence and inability to articulate basic policies on key economic issues.

At the top of their Friday show, they showed the clip of Trump being asked about affordable child care and a "specific piece of legislation" that could be advanced.

"Well, I would do that, and we're sitting down — you know, I was, uh, — somebody — we had Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), and my daughter Ivanka was so impactful on that issue," Trump rambled. "It's a very important issue, but I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about, that — because — child care is child care. It's — couldn't — you know, it's something you have to have it in this country. You have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I'm talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they're not used to, but they'll get used to it very quickly, and it's not going to stop them from doing business with us but will have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country."

Comedian Joy Behar joked, "Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the genius businessman."

Former Republican communications consultant Ana Navarro said that answers like that make it clear "why Trump filed for bankruptcy six times."

But it was politically independent co-host Sara Haines who said she wanted to "echo his own words" from his debate with President Joe Biden.

At one point during the debate, Trump replied to Biden's answer by saying, "I don't think I understand what he just said there, and I don't think he does either."

It sent the panel into hysterical laughter.

"'Cause as I heard that I couldn't follow one dang thing," Haines said.
