As violent threats targeted schools in an Ohio town — where Donald Trump has falsely and repeatedly claimed Haitian immigrants are eating pets — the former president told followers in all caps that his reelection would assure peace in America.
Trump based this pledge on a seemingly baseless claim that Vice President Kamala Harris would reinstate a military draft should she win the presidential election in November.
"A VOTE FOR COMRADE KAMALA HARRIS IS A VOTE FOR WAR WITH RUSSIA!" Trump wrote. "IT IS ALSO A VOTE FOR, 'BRING BACK THE DRAFT.'"
Trump said during his problematic debate against Harris on Tuesday that he could negotiate peace in Ukraine before reentering the White House, an action legal experts warned would violate the federal Logan Act.
Raw Story couldn't immediately find reports suggesting Harris discussed a military draft, nor that she would reinstate one.
But the former president's name appeared repeatedly on articles about military drafts after the daughters of a New York City podiatrist told The New York Times that their father helped Trump escape the Vietnam War draft by fabricating a bone spur diagnosis.
"A VOTE FOR PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP IS A VOTE FOR PROSPERITY & PEACE!" Trump wrote.
A group of Nobel Prize-winning economists in June warned Trump's policy platforms could ignite an "inflation bomb" that would send financial shockwaves rippling across the globe.

"We believe that a second Trump term would have a negative impact on the U.S.'s economic standing in the world, and a destabilizing effect on the U.S.'s domestic economy," the economists wrote.
"Many Americans are concerned about inflation, which has come down remarkably fast. There is rightly a worry that Donald Trump will reignite this inflation, with his fiscally irresponsible budgets."
Trump wrote his message shortly after the conclusion of a California news conference during which he mistakenly called Harris Comrade Howard and threw his support behind conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer.
When asked about mounting tensions in Springfield, Ohio, where Trump and running mate Sen. J.D. Vance have falsely claimed Haitian immigrants are eating dogs, cats, ducks and geese, the former president refused to recant.
"There are bomb threats at schools in Springfield, Ohio and kids are being evacuated," a reporter asked. "Why do you still spread—"
"No, no, no," Trump said over the reporter. "The real threat is what's happening at our border."
